A very fine pub with a food quality that matches the best. Run with enthusiasm and great professionalism by Carol and Marc Perkins.
Judi and I first went with our friend, Philip in March 2007, to celebrate his and my birthdays. (Needless to say we have returned since on several occasions!)
Philip and I started with a delightful red onion tart (judi forwent a starter). Philip ordered the venison steak with rosti potatoes and a red wine sauce, Judi chose calves' liver (soft and delicious!) and I opted for the lumpfish tail wrapped in bacon with a creamy sauce, served on beetroot mash. YUMMY!
The menu changes frequently and the food has never disappointed. Such quality of food and wine is still a rarity in this part of the world, though it seems more common in the west of the country.

The Prince of Wales is a little gem. There is a lovely garden for Al fresco eating. As soon as you walk in the door you feel a friendly ambience being greeted immediately by a member of staff. The inside is decorated beautifully. The meals were absolutely delicious, there was seven of us and we all enjoyed every dish we ate. All the staff were attentive and friendly. We had an excellent evening here. Thank you. 😊
Really nice country pub serving great food. Stopped in on my way through the area for dinner. Had the pork with a side of garlic chiabatta and lemon cheesecake, nice sizeable portions, pork was amazingly cooked and flavourful with roast vegetables and sweet potato mash drizzled with sauce. The garlic bread was crispy with a soft centre just the right amount of oil stuffed with cheese. The cheesecake was so so good, soft base and fluffy top, wanted to order seconds of everything! Bar maid/FOH was really nice and cheery, which is a rarity these days, music on in the back ground and a lovely atmosphere. Will certainly come here again if I'm in the area
